A Day in the Life of... Liz Best
WELCOME TO OUR NEW BLOG POST SERIES, A DAY IN THE LIFE OF... WHERE WE - YOU GUESSED IT - GET A SNAPSHOT OF A DAY IN THE LIFE OF WOMEN WHO INSPIRE US. WE WANTED TO FOCUS ON THE DAY TO DAY, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT ENTREPRENEURSHIP/BOSS-BABENESS/FOLLOWING-YOUR-BLISS IS ACTUALLY ABOUT: THE DAY TO DAY HUSTLE.
TODAY, WE'RE INTERVIEWING OUR LATEST GIRL CRUSH, LA-based blogger LIZ BEST. Design school meets california cool, we “met” liz on instagram as we were scrolling for inspiration (you know the drill). Between her too-cool-to-care gallery wall to bold and playful prints to dope collection of sunglasses, she’s got us inspired to use bolder patterns and continue making devil-may-care original prints.
WHAT’S YOUR FULL NAME? ELIZABETH BEST
JOB TITLE: BLOGGER/STYLIST/WRITER
WHAT'S YOUR SIDE HUSTLE: YES! I DO ONE-ON-ONE FASHION CONSULTING WITH WOMEN WHO NEED HELP WITH THEIR WARDROBES, AND I'M ABOUT TO LAUNCH MY OWN CURATED SHOP ON INSTAGRAM OF VINTAGE FINDS.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN? ATLANTA, GEORGIA.
WHAT'S YOUR SIGN? Aries.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FOOD? CHICFILA!!! AND TACOS AND SUSHI!
Do you have pets? YES! I HAVE ONE SWEET LITTLE WELSH TERRIER NAMED GIGI. IN MY VERY UNBIASED OPINION, SHE'S THE BEST. FOLLOW HER ON INSTAGRAM!
how do you usually start your workday? i'm up by 7:30, but out the door and walking my dog by 8 am! i make a big breakfast with lots of protein - eggs, smoked salmon or bacon, with avocado and berries from the farmer's market.
do you workout? YES! I was into soulcycle for a while, but love pilates now! I also try to take one long walk every day and/or walk to get lunch or dinner.
What's for lunch? since I typically work from home, i love to break up my day by walking and picking up lunch from sweegreen or one of my favorites neighborhood spots.
so, what's for dinner? I am guilty of ordering from postmates way too often (typically flowerchild or sugarfish). so i'm trying to cook more. if i'm cooking, it's usually something simple: veggies from the farmer's market and chicken or salmon. on the weeknds, my boyfriend and i love to walk to our favorite neighborhood spot, north italia.
what's your best advice for art school kids? make friends with everyone!!! you never know what kind of fun collaborations you could end up working on with them or when you'll run into them in post-grad life. i've been so lucky, because two of my best friends from scad already lived in la when i moved here, and a third just moved here from nyc! the social scene at art school is so different from a typical university, but try to view that positively. there's never any pressure to fit in, because everyone wants to stand out! always remember your unique perspective is something to celebrate!
and most importantly, where do you find all your vintage tees? charm school vintage in austin and wasteland in la! i also love hitting vintage shops and flea markets wherever i travel!
